Well the trench section is pretty much done, the figure is done.... now all I need to add is the "X Factor" (A flag) and this baby can go on the shelf (after the figure is mounted of course.)
The trench is nothing more than styrafoam, spacking compund and some balsa wood.

How simple - how effective. I like it.
Did you blend color in the spackle first then apply it. The spackle on the base is colored with a lot of control (none on the light colored base) - looks good.

The whole wall/ground unit was built and painted off of the base (It's styrafoam under the mud in the trench as well) and then glued to the base after the stain had dried.

I've actually finished this build this evening and will take some shots of the finished product Wednesday some time. I'll probably post 'em in figures.....
