I am almost ready to start. I have a Blue Water Navy 1/350 resin USS Enterprise CV-6. It's out on the shelf ready to go. I am just finishing a 1/350 USS Independence CV-22. Once it is off my work area I will be starting my Enterprise. I need to learn how to post my progress and photos on the thread here. I have never done this before so any advice would sure be appreciated. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is going to build. Bob

Great to have an official thread, thanks Bruce. I assume you'll be setting up the gallery too?

Bob, I've found it easiest to use photobucket to store and post pictures. It's free and has a lot more room than the galleries here at Kitmaker, they just have more bandwidth available (NOT at all a criticism of Kitmaker, that's not their thing is all). Once you've uploaded your pic to photobucket, you can paste the img code link right into your message here and up it comes. Like this picture of what I'm building:

Takes a little playing around with it to get it to do what you want, but a pretty easy solution IMHO.

Great choice on the kit, by the way. I can hardly wait to see your work!

Thanks for the reply Michael. I have a photo bucket account now. I have lots of pics of a street rod that I am building posted there. I'll give it a go - probably be back for more help. Bob

Holy crap Bruce, I'm so sorry to hear that! Please don't worry about us, take care of yourself. Check in if that makes you feel happy and busy, but we'll be fine if you can't.

The very best of luck to you and we'll be thinking of you!

First and most importantly: Bruce, how are you man? Hope you're in recovery and starting to mend as best you can!

Next: Not much action around here lately so I thought I'd share some pics of my Enterprise build:

Here's the main hull (obviously). I pre-painted the areas around the windows so it would be easier to mask them when I do the main painting.

Here is the bridge. Unfortunately I got wrapped up and forgot to take pictures before I actually installed it. Oops.

Some of the main assemblies. Those pylons are rock solid if you glue them thoroughly. Shouldn't be any of the dreaded "warp nacelle droop" on this one!

A comparison shot with a 1/48 AM SBD-2 (from the Enterprise, of course!) This is going to be one big ship!

So far I'm enjoying the heck out of this one! It's one of my all time top-of-the-want-list kits and I'm loving it. Anyone else got anything going?

Michael, perhaps I will be able to add an Enterprise A to your original. I'm gonna try, but with a 4 month old, and a new job, it might be hard to complete by the deadline.

(I saw this one for a good price at a model show, but the seller left before the show was over. My wife tracked him down in the parking lot for me! So, I need to get it out of the stash!)

Also, I'd need to do something with this Deflector Dish/sensor array... it is really just a disk of blue plasic.

First and most importantly, Bruce, how are you getting on mate?

I have a Trumpeter 1/350 CVN-65 I purchased a few weeks ago bran new for the princely sum of $38.

Think it may jump the queue a bit in the next twelve months and get built for this campaign. First though I must gather some PE. Anyone got any ideas on which is the better set, GMM or WEM?

Cheers
Warren

Warren,

I was not aware Trumpeter did a 1/350 Enterprise. I know they did the Nimitz, but not the Big E. Tamiya does a 1/350 CVN-65, is that what you have? Either way, nice price! But a Nimitz won't fit the campaign parameters.

Too late to join this campaign for me. I am in the middle of a 1/350 Ise. The only Enterprise I have is the big nuclear one. I am dying to get that Star Trek one but it is out of stock everywhere and those that do have it want in excess of $200 for it....so I will wait. I have reserves in with 2 sellers when they get a new shipment in.

Bruce keep us informed on how you are doing.

Ditto the concern, Bruce. I hope you're back here soon and better too.
As for this campaign, I've acquired a Hobby Boss A7-E Corsair II, but not the decals for Enterprise yet. I'm looking into CAM Decals for that. Any experience with those?
thanks,
Sean H.
update: I've ordered the decals! (No small feat for a cheapy like me. )

an update to my update! The decals are here! I ordered CAM Pro decals for the A-7E, and I'll use the VA-27 Royal Maces set, onboard the Enterprise era 1973.
I love what I'm working on now, but would love to jump into this Corsair II right now too!

Is there any decent 1/700 Enterprise model out there? Any hope that Dragon or Trumpeter will put one out?

Industriously working on seams, and some of them are industrial. That seam around the saucer hull is time consuming and tricky! Just about ready to apply some more paint to see how they look.

Hello All,
I have decided to extend the campaign for a year with it ending December 31st 2013 at midnight.
I do know that some of you have been thinking about doing the carrier and this will give you the time.
Cheers,
Bruce

Good to see you back on deck Bruce.

One question, do you mean extend it a year to 2014, or was it only supposed to go until 31st Dec 2012?

Hello Warren,
OK, I am an idiot. I should have checked the end date before I posted. I had another surgery the day before and I guess I was still under the knock out juice when I posted.
I forgot this was a year long campaign.
Thanks for keeping me on my five toes,
Cheers,
Bruce

Oh no I wasn't criticising at all mate. Just wondering how long I had for my CVN-65 was all.

Hope you are feeling better.

Some progress on the Polar Lights 1/350 Original Series Enterprise. About ready to bring the major sub-assemblies together:

And with stuff glued together and sitting upside down to dry:

This thing is huge! I actually used tube glue smeared around inside the sockets to give maximum grip. The engineering of the kit to make sure this works solidly is very impressive. I don't see much chance of the dreaded nacelle droop on this one!

Like the inovative jig Michael.

Picked up the Osprey today, my first A Model kit, A bit crude by today's standards but non the less a good attempt. I just hope it goes together as well.

The Kit:-

Typical of kits of it's Genre, the istructions ae not 100% I put the pilot's cockpit together as per the instructions.

and it did not look right.

So I sat a pilot I borrowed from my Son Chistopher in it.

Which proved it, so I went for this, which looks mich more like it.

The fusalage halves have bben painted and the interior parts added, nice radio and moulded on detail.

more soon.
