I am looking for reference material on modern carriers. What I would like to find is drawings of side and overheads, pictures of hanger decks/interiors, close up pics of the islands. Specs. I am interested in the Forrestal, JFK, Enterprise, and Nimitz class types. OF course the Midway and even the WW2 carrier classes would be equally as welcome. I've got some eally great books on Battleships, I just wonder if anybody published similar ones about carriers. I havelooked at a few web sites but if any one knows of a really exceptional one or two let me know. Nimitzfan...Sabot......Faust? You guys usually have great knowledge of where to go for 1st class info

I think that I answered you on the Modelwarships board. Go to globalsecurity.org they have info on every type of weapon system you can think of.

Thanks Nimitzfan That one did the trick. Got the sideview wt overhead drawings and it had a couple of great closeup pics of the Enterprise island. Too bad the drawings weren't in color (that's me...never totally satisfied). What I am truely looking for is one of those huge coffee table books with the fold out pages that show side views, overheads, and the neat interior shots. Trying to print this stuff out on my computer printer is not satisfactory it is either too small or chops off a section. Can't get the printer to totally customise.

Check out the website for The Federation of American Scientists under the conventional weapon section. Most of the descriptions that they have there include either photos or line drawings or both of various pieces of military equipment.

Another site you might want to check out is www.navy.mil
Alot of the modern ship also have their own web sites, with some pretty good pics on them. They can be found on the Navy web site.

Thanks guys, picked up some info off the internet. Went down to local library and found an outstanding book. In the process now of scanning and printing the data I was looking for. Did find a great book on Amazon whcih I ordered and just got yesterday that had the color diagrams showing interior sideviews on a couple of ships, so looks like I did all right.
