Imagine an alien race loving ovoid, rounded shapes. What would the public space and elements of architecture of these aliens look like?
It seems that sculptors from Micro Art Studio have their answer to this question.
MAS offers set of five round 25mm Wraithstone bases (randomly selected from 12 available designs) dedicated mostly for tabletop wargame figures, especially futuristic elves incarnations (like GW Ė Eldars). Bases were sculpted by Sebastian Makowski basing on concept by Sasha Tynan.
MAS has sent us set of five round 25mm bases from their Wraithstone series.
Each set comes in standard MAS blister with the name of kit printed on it. Parts are protected by blister and black polyfoam slab.
Whole 25mm group includes twelve different bases created by Sebastian Makowski. In every blister you receive five random bases from this group.
Although all bases are quite similar each base is a little different from the other. They all can be seen painted on the header picture.
A common feature of all these bases is total lack of straight lines. All edges are rounded, all lines are wavy and only sharp elements are angles on the lines and markings carved on the floor. Pictures of finished bases show violet crystals or lamps installed into the floorís surface.
Small round bulges (like buttons or rivet heads) on edges of steps are also present on many bases.
All bases show steps or surfaces placed on different levels.
assembly and painting
No assembly is required Ė all bases are made as one piece only. Bases are science-fiction in their nature so itís absolutely up to painter to choose the way they are painted but the picture available on Micro Art Studio website makes very good reference.
detailing and quality
Bases are made in grey resin. Material is of high quality so the details are visible and clean. Unfortunately air bubbles are present in almost each and every round bulge present on the base. It is not a big error but still an error. No cracks and flesh is present so parts are almost ready to paint straight from the blister.
Good quality and beautifully sculpted bases that should match perfectly any s/f wargaming figure.
Design is eye-catching and allow interesting painting matching oneís style and preferences.
Some figures may be difficult to place on the bases since there are almost no flat surfaces on them. Small air bubbles work against the good overall impression but error is not big enough to destroy it.
If you have figures matching this theme and small enough to place them on uneven 25mm wide circle Ė these bases are definitely for you!
Picture of painted bases are taken from vendorís website.
