Iron Man is a fictional superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character debuted in Tales of Suspense No -39 (March 1963), and was created by writer-editor Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby.
Most recently Iron Man has been bought to life in the live action films, produced by Marvel Studios, and starring Robert Downey Junior as the lead.
Packed in a tin box in-between two foam inserts, the kit is very secure, with any small parts also sealed in a clear bag.
Inside the tin you will find a bio card, which gives you some information on the character, but unfortunately (for me anyway) is printed in Spanish. On the reverse side is the Deluxe Limited edition number, of which mine reads No 56. Each Knight Models kit is limited to a 500 piece production run.
A plastic plinth on which to place the model is included, which has the Marvel logo emblazoned on the front.
This Mark-1 Iron Man kit is based on the 2008 movie Iron Man.
The legs and torso are cast in resin in one piece and is free of bubbles and very cleanly cast with some very good detail.
The rest of the body is made up of 23 white metal pieces.
Some of the smaller white metal pieces are attached to metal trees. They are easy to remove and clean up will be very quick.
The parts are are nicely cast with outstanding detail.
The two arms are broken down into several parts each with the hands separate along with the flamethrower gas bottle and a couple of armour sections.
The rest of the pieces are additional body armour and the one piece head.
The only concern with this kit is about the placement of the numerous parts. The kit only has the box artwork to go by for placement, so some of the smaller parts could be a little tricky to figure out.
A small resin base is included, which has a sand texture moulded onto it, with two depressed areas for the feet.
The height if the finished kit, not including the plastic Marvel logo plinth is 76mm.
