As more and more IJN ship kits are being released the need for more detail sets increases. Recent ship releases with flight deck areas has brought the need for better looking rails for these sections.
The aircraft rails and turntables is just the set to make your build of any IJN ship make that much better. The set comes with two frets of PE. One has the deck railings whereas the other has the turntables.
The instructions guide you through adding the railings and turntables to your ships flight deck. However, the original system of rails and turntables must be removed first. This might seem like a daunting task at first. But, with a steady hand and plenty of time you will have your deck smooth and ready to take the new railings.
There are two different styles of deck rails in the set. These are nicely etched and the fret comes with a protective covering plastic. This is something that has been showing up on recent sets of PE from all the manufactures. The covering helps prevent pieces from becoming fodder for the carpet monster, so that is nice.
The turn tables have both a smooth plate and textured plate. Using the two separate plates gives the turn table a better sense of depth and turnability(if that’s a word). There are also small sections of rail to add to the top of each turntable.
This set is in 1/350 and LionRoar also makes a 1/700 set. The 1/700 set if the focus of Anthony’s feature.
If you think those added a nice level of improvement in the smaller scale imagine how they will look on one of the new 1/350 kits.
One thing to keep in mind is keeping the rails straight. There is not a spacing recommendation in the 350 set like there is in the 700 set. SO, maybe a piece of scrap could be cut down to use a guide.
But with those things said this is a definite set you will want to get. It will make your build of the Mogami look that much better.
