Ship History
Launched in May of 1930, the IJN heavy cruiser Takao served throughout the Pacific War, taking part in many campaigns and ending up as a stationary anti-aircraft defense battery after being heavily damaged by US submarines after the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. She was towed to Singapore, where she finished the war as an anti-aircraft gun platform. Hit again by a British midget submarine in July of 1945, she was immobilzed, and eventually scuttled by the British in the fall of 1946.
