Ship History
The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) launched the cruiser Mogami in 1935. During the Battle of Midway in June 1942, the ship was heavily damaged. The Mogami was then rebuilt and then participated in the second half of the Pacific War as an Aircraft Carrying Cruiser. The ship was sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, 25th October 1944.
IJN Mogami was equipped with 20.3cm cannons mounted on 3 dual gun turrets, 10 triple 25mm anti-aircraft batteries, 4 dual 12.7mm anti-aircraft batteries, 4 triple tube 61cm torpedo launchers. The “new” heavy Aircraft Carrying Cruiser was able to carry 11 hydroplanes of the following types: Aichi E13A “Jake” and Mitsubishi F1M “Pete”.

Sean grayghost666 hello Sean,
very interesting model.there could be a campaign for the hybrid ships.what they started out as to what they became.from Battleship to hybrid Battleship/Carrier,from a Merchant ship to a Escort Carrier or a Heavy Cruiser to a mixed gun/missile Cruiser.i just do not know if there are enough models to do a campaign.
thanks for the info and idea.
cheers/
Bruce :) Tojo72 Very interesting and attractive kit,my only regret is that these 1/350 offerings are killing my shelf space, also looking foward to the new 1/350 Graf Spee
thanks for the link |
